Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit their original empirical research articles 5,000–7,000 words in length. Interested authors are requested to consult the journal’s guidelines available on our website aarjhrrs before submission. All submitted articles will undergo a double-blind review process by at least three members of the journal’s Editorial Review Board and one Associate Editor. Final decision regarding acceptance, revision or rejection will be based on the reviews received from the reviewers and at the sole discretion of the Editor-in-Chief.

Copyright Transfer Statement

The copyright of this paper is transferred to Academic at Risk (AAR) Journal of Human Rights and Refugee Studies if the paper is accepted for publication. The corresponding author, whose personal information and undersigned is below, transfers all copyrights of the paper to the Academic at Risk (AAR) Journal of Human Rights and Refugee Studies. The corresponding author declares and undertakes that the paper is original and that she/he is the author or one of the authors of the article. The corresponding author accepts and undertakes to provide permission notices from other copyright holders and materials whose original source is clearly stated when necessary. In addition, the corresponding author accepts and declares that she/he has the authority to perform and execute this task.

The corresponding author declares that:

  1. This paper is/was not published in another journal, book, proceedings book, etc.,

The corresponding author signs and accepts responsibility for releasing this article on behalf of all co-authors (if exist). After submission of this form signed by the corresponding author, changes of authorship or in the order of the authors listed will not be accepted.
