The primary objective of this research project is to delve into the enduring ramifications of the 2016 coup attempt in Turkey on German-Turkish literature and writers. The scope of my investigation encompasses a thorough analysis of novels, poetry, articles, and interviews penned by German-Turkish authors. The tumultuous events of the 2016 coup in Turkey precipitated widespread repercussions, resulting in the mass dismissal of tens of thousands of individuals from the legal, educational, scientific, and journalistic sectors. Consequently, a significant exodus of highly educated authors, activists, and members of civil society sought refuge in countries like Germany. This research endeavor seeks to elucidate how this pivotal political event reverberated within the realm of German-Turkish literature. Specifically, it aims to explore how German-Turkish writers and intellectuals residing in Germany responded to these events, the thematic preoccupations that surfaced in their works, the evolution of these themes, motifs, and intertextual references, and the portrayal of the life stories of recent immigrants within this context.
